Hi Friend,

It's a relief seeing towns and regions across the country begin easing their social distancing restrictions after all these months. But “back to normal” is still a long way away for people like our seniors at Volunteers of America's care facilities.

Our seniors can’t risk exposure to COVID-19; not with illness, compromised immunities, and developmental disabilities. And it’s good that they’re safe and protected—that’s our top priority. But it can get pretty lonely, and many who we serve are low-income, or lack family networks, so receiving family “facetime” calls, for example, isn't happening for them.

Will you help remind our seniors that they are not forgotten?

We set up Cheer Mail to connect caring people like you with opportunity: to brighten the day for a local senior who could really use a special message for comfort while they’re feeling alone or scared.

My CHEER Mail for a Senior

It’s easy, you add your message and a local VOA healthcare worker will make sure it’s received by seniors in any one of our care communities across the U.S.

Examples of messages… tell them you’re thinking of them today, or send them "virtual hugs, xoxo!" Whatever thoughtful words you want to say, will be heartening to hear for them, I guarantee!

Thank you so much for your support. It's a wonderful feeling being reminded that people care.

Blessings and be well,

Maria Jamero, CHEER Mail, Team Lead
Volunteers of America

P.S. Your caring action for another person ignites positive change. If you are able, please consider a donation today. Basic needs like food and shelter, treatment programs and mental health care, give our vulnerable seniors, and children and families, a second chance.
