HARRISBURG, PA -
For more than three months, the people of Lackawanna County have been without a full Board of Commissioners. After one of the Democrat commissioners resigned just months into the job, local Democrats picked a replacement behind closed doors, which has now sparked a lawsuit from the other sitting Democrat commissioner.
To top it off, Republican voters are being sent 2024 mail-in ballots for the upcoming 2025 primary. It’s another mistake that creates confusion and undermines confidence in the election process.
While the county says corrected ballots are on the way, this is part of a larger pattern. Democrat mismanagement at the county level has real consequences, and right now, voters are paying the price. We’ve got one seat still empty, two Democrats tied up in a legal fight, and now basic election administration errors.
PA GOP Communications Director James Markley said, “The continued dysfunction and incompetence by Lackawanna Democrat leaders is hurting taxpaying citizens and the county’s image.”
Elections should never be this sloppy. Taxpayers deserve a county government that functions and a process they can trust. These kinds of mistakes need to be taken seriously — and they need to stop happening.
The people of Lackawanna County deserve competence, not chaos.
