** Rally for Racial Justice
------------------------------------------------------------
Esperanza and La Cañada
Saturday, June 13
8- 9 a.m.

Letter from Barb Lemmon:

Dear friends for Justice,

Many have asked for another chance to rally for Racial Justice in Green Valley.

I am very encouraged that folks feel so strongly about what we have been seeing, what our fellow Americans has been living with - finally grossly revealed to us. Now we must pay attention and work for change. No more turning our backs. We cannot look away this time.

So we will rally again on Saturday. Again, we are in a very dangerous moment in this state due to the virus. Many are ready to be on the corner again. Some are certainly not ready.

My proposal is for those who wish to be on the street at Esperanza and La Cañada do so at 8 AM. Again, SOCIAL DISTANCING, MASKS required!!

Option for those hesitant to mix with others: ride in your car with a sign taped on the side. We could leave from the library parking lot at 8:30 AM. Use the lot closest to La Cañada, the one that used to be a recycling station. Don't use the main library lot.

The drive (honking) could be from that parking lot to La Cañada, south to Continental, then back north on La Cañada all the way to Duval Mine Rd., then back south to the lot. You could repeat that loop. This will NOT be a train of cars, and NOT going through red lights. Try to be several in a group (4-5) with groups separated when necessary by traffic.

So that is my thought. PLEASE, when on the sidewalk, keep distance! We don't want negative attention for being too close together. No chanting. No Trump signs. This must be a dignified presence. The subject is racial justice, black lives matter, police brutality, this is a moral issue - so signs reflecting that. We will not engage in arguments with passers-by. They may try to entice you. Ignore the man with the Doberman - he is well known to us - do not engage. He may have a camera and take your picture - use your sign as your face.
.
Please respond if you have questions ([email protected]). Please stay tuned for changes! I will email again if plans change.

Thank you all!!
Barb Lemmon
