Breaking news:
I just filed my 16th lawsuit against the Trump administration. This time, it’s for dismantling AmeriCorps, the national volunteer public service agency, by terminating grant funding and slashing its workforce by 85 percent.

AmeriCorps supports national and state community service programs by providing opportunities for more than 200,000 Americans to directly serve their communities every year and awarding grants to agencies and organizations that help address critical needs in our communities. In California, AmeriCorps volunteers build affordable housing, clean up our environment, address food insecurity, support veterans, and so much more.
AmeriCorps touched my life in such a meaningful way. When I was fresh out of college and taking my first steps toward my career, I worked with an AmeriCorps program in Connecticut called Leadership, Education & Athletics in Partnership (LEAP) that served children and families in public housing neighborhoods. My time with LEAP inspired me to pursue a career in public service, focus on uplifting my fellow Americans, and tackle some of our biggest domestic challenges like poverty, affordable housing, quality education, and gun violence. It was perhaps my most formative service experience and helped put me on the trajectory to be your Attorney General today.
AmeriCorps volunteers bring out the best in America and our communities. It would be a shame to turn away the hundreds of thousands of young people ready and eager to serve their country, and for communities to lose the vital services they provide.
It’s this spirit of focusing on us and we instead of I and me, of helping one another and taking care of our fellow Americans, that President Trump and Elon Musk are attacking with these cuts. Not only that, but they’re breaking the law to do so. So once again, I’m taking them to court.
In solidarity,
Rob
