John,
The Mighty Mississippi River—one of our national treasures—was just named the most endangered river in the country by the conservation group American Rivers.
Floods, extreme weather, pollution, and runoff are putting this vital waterway and the surrounding communities at risk. If we don’t protect the health of the Mississippi, we jeopardize the natural beauty, wildlife, and climate-change fighting capabilities of the river and the communities along it.
Future generations are counting on us. That’s why I reintroduced the Mississippi River Restoration & Resilience Initiative Act to protect our drinking water, ecosystems, and wildlife for generations to come.
My bill would coordinate efforts to build resiliency against flooding and storms, improve water quality, restore critical wildlife habitats, and prevent the spread of invasive species. It would also fund community-driven projects to protect the river and the surrounding areas.
We have a lot of work ahead to stop Donald Trump and the extreme agenda he’s pushing, but we also can’t take our eye off the ball. I will never stop fighting to protect the Mississippi River as a vital habitat, a source of clean drinking water, and as a commercial corridor for generations to come and as long as you stick with me, I know we’ll get the job done.
John, will you stand with me? Chip in $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can to help protect the Mississippi River for years to come.
