Why it matters
Spaying and neutering feral cats doesn’t just help those individual animals. It helps stop the cycle of overpopulation that leads to suffering, overcrowded shelters, and the heartbreaking euthanasia of adoptable pets.
Every cat cared for today means fewer kittens born into danger tomorrow—and fewer animals entering a system that’s already stretched thin.
This is how real change happens. One surgery at a time. One day at a time. One cat at a time.
There's still time to help
While Feral Cat Spay Day is coming to a close, our work continues all year. PAWS Chicago is on pace to perform 19,000 free and low-cost spay/neuter procedures in 2025—in neighborhoods where veterinary resources are scarce but the need is great.
But we can’t do it without you.
Make a gift now to support our Community Cats Program and our Lurie Spay/Neuter Clinic, the region’s only high-volume, free and low-cost spay/neuter service—and help build a No Kill Chicago.
