Advocacy Updates:

CMS Denied Expanded Access to Obesity Medications

OAC is deeply disappointed that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) chose not to expand coverage of obesity medications in the 2026 Medicare Final Rule. This decision leaves millions without access to the care they need for a serious, chronic disease.

But we’re not giving up. OAC will keep fighting for access to evidence-based obesity care, and we've already reached out to CMS leadership to pave a new way forward. Learn more here and stay tuned for updates—and ways you can be part of the fight.

Thank You, Senator Fetterman, for Standing Up for Access to Obesity Medications

OAC thanks U.S. Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania for bravely sharing his story and calling on the current administration to expand access to obesity medications. As Senator Fetterman said in a recent op-ed, "It should be simple: Our government should be in the business of making lifesaving medication accessible and affordable."

FDA Warns of Counterfeit Ozempic—What You Need to Know

The FDA is warning consumers about counterfeit Ozempic (semaglutide) products that may have entered the U.S. drug supply chain. Counterfeit products could pose serious safety risks.

If you use Ozempic, please review the FDA’s notice, which lists lot numbers and packaging details to help you spot suspect products. Always get your medication from a trusted source and talk to your healthcare provider if you have concerns.

Ways to Give

This Isn’t a Joke—It’s Weight Bias

When Charles Barkley mocked the women of San Antonio during the Final Four earlier this month, it wasn’t just an offensive joke—it was weight bias, broadcast to millions.

Thanks to the OAC Action Fund, we were ready to respond—mobilizing advocates, contacting media and demanding accountability. But the fight doesn’t stop here.

Donations help ensure we have the resources to speak out and advocate for change when it matters most. Donate today and help turn outrage into action.
