"Everything that you're going through is necessary and needed for you to come out at the end with your light." - Ryan Jamaal Swain [[link removed]]
Pride month is here, and while the festivals, concerts, and parades may be cancelled, we still have the ability to reflect on the LGBTQ+ experience and the incredible progress the community has seen over the last several decades.
This year we are faced with the reminder of the monumental effort, and the incredible sacrifices, it takes to inspire change. From the demonstrations that followed the Black Cat raids in Los Angeles to the Stonewall riots in New York to the Black Lives Matter protests happening at this very moment around the world, our freedoms are born from the visions of those who carry the spirit of Pride — those who demand justice and equality from an unjust society.
But there is joy to be found in this moment. We must hold it close and never forget its importance on the path to progress. It is the life affirming symbol of our ability to recognize the good in this world -- in spite of the forces working against us.
The It Gets Better Project is here, at your side, to help you find that joy every day.
Never forget that you are loved and you are never alone. Happy Pride!
