Hi John,
re:power is honored to join MoveOn, NARAL, PCCC, Indivisible, UltraViolet, NextGen, and countless other organizations in hosting a Facebook Live town hall to discuss the political and cultural significance of the movement for Black lives protests.
WHEN: TODAY, Thursday, June 11, 2020, 5PM–6PM EST
This important conversation will focus on educating and organizing our combined memberships to be stronger allies and fully embrace the fight to end anti-Black racism. Together, we will reclaim the narrative from those who insist on condemning these protests, as well as help those in our collective membership who feel less connected to this moment understand why this affects them and share ways they can support the movement.
SPEAKERS INCLUDE:
Marcia Chatelain, Ph.D., discussing racism in America through a historic lens
Charlene Caruthers, speaking to the nature of systemic oppression and the current protests.
Rashad Robinson, talking about the current state of over-policing in America, particularly as it pertains to people of color.
MoveOn's Reggie Hubbard, on where we go from here.
