Today, the New York Assembly passed assisted suicide, despite bipartisan opposition, by a vote of 81-67. This process began yesterday with a run on three committees to push it through, with the final committee taking action off the floor and immediately moving the bill to the agenda of the Assembly floor. I am so proud of our fantastic advocates in New York who have been fighting so hard for so long and so grateful for the impassioned bipartisan testimony in opposition. Our work is not over- we turn now to the Senate and continue to educate them in order to stop this bill.

In New York, this bill has been coming up for a decade; we would have been here long ago without your consistent efforts, advocacy, and support! Lives have been saved because your efforts have kept this legislation at bay for so long.
The New York Alliance Against Assisted Suicide will be hosting an advocacy day next week: If you're unable to attend but have friends in the area, please send on the registration information!
We continue the work! Jessica Rodgers Coalitions Director Patients' Rights Action Fund
