John — radical far-right gun extremists, emboldened by an ally
in the White House, reached new and menacing levels of ugliness.

Angry far-right extremists protested COVID-19 stay-at-home orders with
rifles at state capitols across the country. It's been disturbing,
dangerous, and egged on by Donald Trump — like when he tweeted, "LIBERATE
MINNESOTA!" "LIBERATE MICHIGAN!" and "LIBERATE VIRGINIA, and save your
great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!"

NRA, Trump, and these protests — and stop gun violence in America.

reform.

There's a reason NBC News said "extremists see a call to arms" when they
reported on Trump's "LIBERATE" tweets. And here are just some of the most
recent scenes from these armed protests:

* In Kentucky over Memorial Day weekend, a gun rights rally turned into
an anti-lockdown protest and ended with the mock hanging of an effigy
of Governor Andy Beshear. In addition to hanging an effigy of the
Governor from a tree in front of children, the protesters marched on
the Kentucky capitol building against the stay-at-home order.
* In North Carolina, one leader of the armed stay-at-home protests
posted online: "Are we willing to kill people? Are we willing to lay
our lives down? We have to say yes."
* Armed protestors have shown up to the Michigan capitol multiple times
now, menacing lawmakers inside the capitol building. Physical threats
against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer were reported on the
private Facebook pages organizing the protests.

President Trump, the NRA, and other far-right gun groups have used the
tragedy of COVID-19 to push an extreme "guns everywhere" agenda. And they
have legitimized the increasingly menacing and rage-filled armed protests
against elected officials. This needs to stop now.

[ [link removed] ]Support our movement today as we fight the NRA and Donald Trump's
dangerous rhetoric and extreme "guns everywhere" agenda.

Thanks for standing up for public safety, public health, and common-sense
gun safety reforms for America.
