Hi John,

During the past few weeks, we’ve seen impressive wins from Emerge alums, and I wanted to share just one that I’m particularly excited about.

Before joining Emerge as Political Director, I was the founding Executive Director of Emerge Pennsylvania. At that time, Pennsylvania was severely lacking women elected officials — we had zero women in our twenty-person Congressional delegation — and I knew this program would yield impressive results.

As Democrats in Pennsylvania were joining the #MeToo movement, sexual harassment and assault allegations against one State Senator mushroomed. He lashed out at staffers who outed his behavior, he ran op-eds in which he ducked responsibility, and as calls for his resignation came from the state party, his colleagues, and even the Governor, he refused to budge. Instead, he launched his re-election campaign.

Here’s the good news: Emerge alum Amanda Cappelletti stepped up, took him on, and she won. Voters in Pennsylvania no longer have an alleged serial harasser representing them.

What happened wasn’t an accident, it was the result of our Emerge community stepping up to fund and launch a new organization where our programs were needed. As our candidates shift from primary wins to focus on the general election I wanted to check-in with you: are you able to chip in to help us continue pushing for progress across the country?

There are so many places that need programs that are hyper-focused on recruiting and training women to run, and I know with your help we can continue to build.

I look forward to celebrating more wins like the one we saw in Pennsylvania this week with you.
