Friend,

What happened on Tuesday in Georgia's primary election was blatant voter disenfranchisement. Voters were forced to wait in line for up to five hours and turned away without a guarantee their provisional ballots would count, voting locations opened late, and some poll workers were unable to operate voting equipment.

This is not how a democracy should function. Voters are suffering as Republican-controlled legislatures and conservative courts work in tandem to suppress the vote by closing polling places, purging voter rolls, and enacting burdensome voter ID laws. Now they're opposing vote-by-mail and expanded early voting. It's part of their effort to preserve, at all costs, their political power.

We can't allow this to happen this fall, friend. That's why the NDRC is building on our scope of work to encompass the fight to protect the 2020 election against voter suppression.

Now more than ever, we rely on grassroots supporters like you to sustain our fight, especially in critical moments like this. Can you rush a donation now to help us make sure what happened in Georgia on Tuesday isn't repeated in November?

Voter suppression extends far beyond Georgia. In April, Republicans and the conservative U.S. Supreme Court majority forced Wisconsinites to choose between safeguarding their health and casting their vote in a state Supreme Court race. Ever since the Roberts majority struck down sections of the Voting Rights Act in 2013, GOP leaders in states from Texas to North Carolina to Ohio have made it more difficult for people to vote. It's unacceptable.

Let me be clear: Many -- but not all -- Republicans don't want certain people to vote. They've shown time and again that they want to pick their voters. And they think that when more people vote, they'll lose to Democrats who support science, fairness, and justice.

So what do we do? We fight. We work with our affiliates and partners in the states to demand fair voting, elect Democrats, and ensure fair redistricting in 2021.

Will you help us get it done? If you can, pitch in now to help every American make their voice heard.
