Black Lives Matter. That is why millions of Americans have taken to the streets to demand justice for George Floyd and an end to police brutality and systemic racism. House Democrats are listening and taking action.
I am proud to cosponsor new legislation to transform policing by ensuring accountability and transparency called the Justice in Policing Act.
This bill would hold police, like those responsible for the murder of George Floyd, accountable in the courts, create a national police misconduct registry, ban chokeholds, increase the use of police body cams, and mandate training to end racial profiling. I am proud to join with so many others in Congress calling for an end to systemic police brutality, and am committed to working in the House to pass this legislation.
If you agree that Congress must take action against police brutality will you sign your name here in support of this legislation? [[link removed]]

William, our country is in pain. Tens of millions of Americans are unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, President Trump remains focused on dividing us at any cost, and now, we are reckoning with yet another awful act of police brutality against Black Americans.
But William, this historic moment of national unity against systemic racial injustice is enabling us to see that a better future for our country is within reach.
Honoring the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and others who have been wrongfully killed at the hands of law enforcement means we must work together for systemic changes to fight racism, reform our justice system, and end economic inequality.
I will continue fighting to end systemic police brutality and hold President Trump accountable for his indefensible actions against the American people.
Always,
Lois
