John,

McDonald's wants you to think they care about Black lives.

The company released a video claiming that Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Alton Sterling, Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Floyd are "one of us." It's a disgusting PR stunt designed to deflect responsibility and turn a profit.

No, McDonald's. You are NOT one of us. We're not your property to claim. Our lives are not your prop.

I'm responding directly to McDonald's racist and offensive tweet. Take a minute to read my message to them and share it with your friends and family.

Black and Brown workers like me are out here every day serving our communities. Meanwhile, McDonald's execs make MILLIONS off of our labor while denying us a living wage, hazard pay during a pandemic, personal protective equipment to keep us safe, and paid sick leave to protect our coworkers and customers.

They repay us with empty words, rubbing salt into our wounds by invoking the names of our sisters and brothers slain by racist violence.

If McDonald's really cared about our "systemic oppression" they would stop contributing to it by paying us poverty wages. They could pay us $15 an hour and give us union rights. They could listen to Black women who report sexual harassment. They could protect us from COVID with PPE and give us paid sick leave.

Time and time again, McDonald's chooses to ignore Black and Brown workers when we demand what we deserve. They refuse to see our humanity. Our worth.

Call it out for what it is, John, and share my response to McDonald's racist PR campaign.

McDonald's, keep their names out of your Twitter feed.
