There are A LOT of Republican contenders already expressing their interest to run for Iowa Governor, folks.
Meet five of the insiders, cronies, and lap dogs who are considering a run to replace Kim Reynolds:
- Attorney General Brenna Bird. Bird halted emergency contraception and abortion care for rape victims, and opposed updates to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act which protects disabled students’ civil rights.
- Congressman Zach Nunn. Nunn hasn’t hosted a single townhall in IA-03 since being elected in 2023, and he voted to pass Trump’s tariffs and cut more than $1 trillion in funding on programs like Medicaid and SNAP.
- Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig. Naig has only harmed rural areas by lobbying for giant agriculture corporations like Monsanto and failing to make progress on cleaning up our water.
- State Rep. Bobby Kauffman. Kauffman flipped off people who disagreed with him and his extremism, led the charge on classroom censorship, and was appointed as a senior advisor on Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign in the Iowa caucuses.
- State Senator Mike Bousselot. Bousselot directed the Department of Management during the privatization of Medicaid, and prioritized stripping our state auditor’s ability to oversee spending of state agencies.
All of these potential candidates and not a single one of them is looking out for middle-class Iowan families.
