** Welcome to the Bayou, Australia.

Bloomberg ([link removed]) (4/28/25) reports: "Woodside Energy Group Ltd. made a final investment decision on a $17.5 billion liquefied natural gas export project in the US, cementing the Australian company’s position as a top supplier of the super-chilled fuel. The approval clears construction of the Louisiana LNG plant, which is targeting its first shipment in 2029, Woodside said Tuesday. The development will see the company handling more than 5% of global supply in the 2030s, it said. The project is the single largest direct foreign investment in Louisiana’s history, according to Woodside, a move that will likely please President Donald Trump, who imposed, and then delayed, widespread tariffs on many countries this month. Trump has called on countries to buy more American energy, and the Louisiana project will further cement the US as the world’s biggest LNG supplier."

** "New oil production will continue to increase because energy leaders are confident in the president’s commitment to unleash American energy, roll back stifling regulations, reduce our reliance on foreign countries’ dirty oil, and deliver economic relief to the American people."

And hopefully the lights stay on this time.

(4/28/25) reports: "Six days ago, the media celebrated a significant milestone: Spain’s national grid operated entirely on renewable energy for the first time during a weekday. At 12:35 pm today local time, the lights went out across Spain and Portugal, and parts of France. Although power was quickly restored in France, it could take a week to fully restore power in Spain and Portugal. In an instant, the electric hum of modern life — trains, hospitals, airports, phones, traffic lights, cash registers — fell silent. Tens of millions of people instantly plunged into chaos, confusion, and darkness. People got stuck in elevators. Subways stopped between stations. Gas stations couldn’t pump fuel. Grocery stores couldn’t process payments. It was one of the largest peacetime blackouts Europe has ever seen. And it was not random. It was not an unforeseeable event. It was the exact failure that many of us have been, repeatedly, warning lawmakers about for years — warnings that Europe’s political
leaders systematically chose to ignore."

(4/28/25) reports: "Utah is looking to go nuclear as it takes the next step since launching Operation Gigawatt, a program seeking to double its statewide energy output over the next decade. After ceremonially signing a few energy-related bills outside of the Governor's Mansion Monday evening, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox gave up his seat to allow for Emy Lesofski, director of the Utah Office of Energy Development, and John C. Wagner, director of Idaho National Laboratory, to sign a memorandum of understanding, speeding up Utah's involvement in nuclear research. The agreement allows for a 'structural, interdisciplinary alliance' between the state and the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy. The deal paves the way for establishing the Advanced Nuclear and Energy Institute, a collaboration between the Idaho-based lab and the Utah Office of Energy Development, Utah System of Higher Education and the Utah San Rafael Energy Lab."
The friendship between the United States and Poland is now as strong as an atomic bond.
