John,
I’ve emailed you before about the broadband divide, but I wanted to tell you a little bit more about why it’s so critical.
Students across the country rely on the internet for a variety of reasons, whether that’s using online resources to research more about a given subject, communicating with teachers or peers, or simply submitting homework assignments electronically.
But the unfortunate truth is that many students in Central Virginia don’t have access to the internet and are put behind their peers in urban and suburban areas. In seven of the ten counties that make up Virginia’s Seventh District, there are substantial areas with little to no broadband access.
A 2017 Congressional report estimates some 12 million school-aged children suffer from this lack of access and thus, “the homework gap”.
But each day I’m fighting for greater broadband access for all of Central Virginia. Greater access will mean more jobs and a brighter future for our children.
If you agree, then help me continue the fight. Take a moment and help support my campaign.
I’m working each day to ensure a better future for you, and for our children in Central Virginia.
Thanks for all that you do.
