ACLU Supporter, Donald Trump signed an executive order targeting sanctuary cities last night – directing immigration and law enforcement to take legal action against those who refuse to comply with Trump's anti-immigrant agenda.

These actions do nothing to improve public safety or our immigration system.

This is just the latest escalation in the Trump administration's shakedown of cities, states, and elected officials that refuse to offer up local resources for the administration's mass deportation and detention agenda.

Taxpayer dollars should be spent investing in programs that improve public safety and support our communities – not policies that tear them apart by deporting our immigrant neighbors and loved ones.

These orders have no basis in the law. Make no mistake: The ACLU will continue to meet every attack on immigrant communities with our full force including this one – count on it. And as we fight back against these latest attacks, we're glad to have you with us.
