Content Warning: This email includes references to violence and trauma affecting women and UNFPA teams on the ground in Sudan.
Layla spent three terrifying weeks in an overcrowded prison, separated from her children, living in constant fear, and enduring constant trauma.
"I witnessed unimaginable horrors…Every night, the screams of young women and girls echoed…I heard those screams for all 19 days I was in that prison."
Sudanese women like Layla face a waking nightmare of daily violence, hunger, disease, and displacement and they urgently need our help.
UNFPA teams are among the few on the ground, providing rape survivors with clinical treatment, safe shelters, and mental health support for survivors of violence. Will you rush a gift to deliver care to vulnerable women and girls like Layla in Sudan and beyond? Please give what you can today. [[link removed]?]
RUSH MY GIFT [[link removed]?]
Sudan's healthcare system is on the brink of collapse — 80% of facilities are closed or barely functioning. Despite the rising dangers, contributions from generous donors like you have supported more than 120 health facilities, 90 mobile health units, 51 safe spaces for women and girls, and UNFPA health workers on the ground.
But these vital resources are constantly under threat.
There have been over 540 attacks on healthcare centers and frequent looting, increasing supply shortages and clinic closures. Tragically, health workers, patients, and ambulances are often targets of violence and intimidation, as seen in the recent brutal attack at the Zamzam camp, where an entire clinic staff was killed.
Even as the dangers grow, our staff are risking everything to keep sexual and reproductive health services going in Sudan. But supplies are running out, clinics are forced to close, and the U.S. has terminated funding — putting midwives, women, and girls in jeopardy. Please rush an emergency gift to help midwives in Sudan and beyond reach women and girls with lifesaving care. [[link removed]?]

The courage and resilience of Sudanese healthcare workers like UNFPA midwife Hawaa are remarkable. She shared: "Midwives in Khartoum were taking huge risks to reach women in their homes. It was exhausting, working day and night, but it’s our duty, and I’m proud of what we’ve done."

Hawaa is one of many midwives serving 270,000 pregnant women in Sudan, including mother-of-four, Sabreen.
Sabreen told us, “I worry about the cold and not having a proper place to lay my baby. We don’t have a home — we sleep on the floor. A mobile clinic examined me and performed an ultrasound. They treated me kindly.”
With your help, we can be a lifeline for women and girls suffering through this relentless humanitarian crisis. Your gift today can provide lifesaving care that women and girls like Layla and Sabreen in Sudan and around the world are desperately waiting for — will you answer the call? [[link removed]?]
Thank you for meeting the struggles of women and girls with compassion and action.
