Hello –

Black Americans have been demanding reforms to our criminal justice system since it was founded. Finally, leaders in D.C. are starting to listen to our unified cry for justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and the thousands of Black lives taken unjustly before them.

Without a doubt, we are living in a historic time. Protestors and activists across the country are demanding that this time our call for justice is met with real, structural change.

House and Senate Democrats in the Congressional Black Caucus, chaired by Representative Karen Bass (CA-37), are joining the American people in saying, "Enough is enough." Rep. Ayanna Pressley, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries, and others are supporting a broad package of actionable reforms named the Justice in Policing Act that will:

  • End the use of chokeholds
  • Establish a National Police Misconduct Registry
  • Demilitarize local police departments
  • Ban no-knock warrants for drug-related offenses
  • Create flexibility in the standard for prosecuting violent officers

This is an important next action in the fight to stop these unjust policing tactics that have been over-implemented in Black communities across the country. Don't miss this chance – add your name as a citizen co-sponsor of the Justice in Policing Act today.

Change starts with all of us, friend. And until our demand for justice is met – we will not be silent.

It's going to take more than one law to heal the centuries of systemic racism and white supremacy that our country was founded on. But this is a strong step.

Add your name to the growing list of Americans supporting the historic Justice in Policing Act. Sign the petition right now.

The Black Caucus's leadership proves why we need Black leaders in office. They are leading us on the path to justice, and we will continue to support leaders like them as we move forward.
