Florence (Flo) is a spunky 5-year-old with a wish that gave back to her whole community!

Her dad Rich said, “At 22 months is when we first discovered the brain tumor … she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, which is a rare brain cancer.”

Florence had just stopped walking one day. Her dad continued, “We went to the emergency room, where they did a CAT scan. They found a softball size tumor in the middle of her brain.”

Brain surgery one week after her diagnosis was followed by multiple rounds of chemotherapy.

“Hospital life was a little over a year, and it was a lot of sacrifice on both me and my wife, Eugenia, and especially Florence. She lost her twos and threes due to cancer,” Rich shared.

Pediatric hematologist/oncologist Dr. Vivian Chang says, “Having those wish experiences where they can just be a kid for the day really does a lot … to boost their morale, give them something to look forward to, and memories for them to look back on when their treatments are really tough.”

Finally, a grueling stem cell treatment signaled a turning point for Flo and her family. Flo began to reintegrate back into the community, where she fell in love with farm-themed pretend play.

Once she was healthy enough, Flo was granted a wish: to have a play farmyard at her school!

“My wish gave me happy,” said Flo. And now you can do the same for another wish kid like her who is still waiting.
