Trump at 100 Days: “The most consequential to-do list in American history”

Niall Ferguson: By my count, there were 37 short but tightly scripted videos, recorded between December 2022 and December 2023, in which the then-candidate previewed just about every move he has made since his inauguration 100 days ago…. One day, historians will refer to this as the most consequential to-do list in American history. And, in his first 100 days back in the White House, Donald Trump has crushed that list…. At the same time, Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has spent a hundred days firing thousands of federal employees, in a purge unlike anything the Beltway has seen in a generation. Anyone who visits the corridors of power these days finds them eerily empty. The Eisenhower Executive Office Building is a ghost town. The National Security Council is a shell ( TheFP).

Where Trump Has Been a “Smashing” Success: Securing the Border
|
Bryon York: ….in one specific area, Trump has been a smashing success, and that is in stopping the massive flow of illegal border crossers into the United States. Poll after poll in the run-up to the 2024 election showed that the border disaster was among the top two or three issues of the campaign. And just like that, Trump fixed the problem. Illegal crossings have now virtually disappeared. In his March 4 address to Congress, Trump said, “The media and our friends in the Democrat Party kept saying we needed new legislation. ‘We must have legislation to secure the border.’ But it turned out that all we really needed was a new president.” When he said that, he was telling the truth ( Washington Examiner). DHS summarizes the successes on what is now “the most secure border in American history:
- S. Customs and Border Protection now has total control of the border.
- Daily border encounters are down by 93%.
- Encounters with gotaways – the top threat to public safety – are down by 95%.
- And migrant crossings are down by 99.99% (DHS).

Trump took office were placed on the lawn of the White House for the world to see — highlighting the Trump Administration’s unprecedented effort to secure our homeland and send these vicious criminals back where they belong ( White House). Trump Releases Two New Executive Orders Protecting Americans From Criminal Aliens
|
“It is imperative that the Federal Government restore the enforcement of United States law.” The first of these two targets “sanctuary” jurisdictions: (a) With respect to sanctuary jurisdictions that are designated under section 2(a) of this order, the head of each executive department or agency (agency), in coordination with the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and as permitted by law, shall identify appropriate Federal funds to sanctuary jurisdictions, including grants and contracts, for suspension or termination, as appropriate. (b) With respect to jurisdictions that remain sanctuary jurisdictions after State or local officials are provided notice of such status under section 2(b) of this order and yet remain in defiance of Federal law, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall pursue all necessary legal remedies and enforcement measures to end these violations and bring such jurisdictions into compliance with the laws of the United States ( White House). The second seeks to empower local law enforcement: My Administration will therefore: establish best practices at the State and local level for cities to unleash high-impact local police forces; protect and defend law enforcement officers wrongly accused and abused by State or local officials; and surge resources to officers in need. My Administration will work to ensure that law enforcement officers across America focus on ending crime, not pursuing harmful, illegal race- and sex-based “equity” policies. The result will be a law-abiding society in which tenacious law enforcement officers protect the innocent, violations of law are not tolerated, and American communities are safely enjoyed by all their citizens again ( White House).

Illinois Gov. Pritzker’s Outsized Rhetoric Alarms All Who Are Paying Attention

In a speech hinting at his presidential aspirations “Pritzker went the full Maxine Waters.” Beege Welborn, starting with a quote from Pritzker : “…Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now. These Republicans do not know a moment of peace! They have to understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone we have. We must castigate them on the soapbox and then punish them at the ballot box.” And all the little blue-haired Communists attending cheered wildly, and the few who could stand to applaud did so. Snapping-turtle Turk was so proud – the big, bulbous billionaire was beaming. Oh, I bet he thinks he can do this now ( Hot Air). Fox News: Donald Trump Jr. asked if the governor was aiming to inspire another attempted assassination of his father. “Are you trying to inspire a 3rd assassination attempt on my dad? Two wasn’t enough for you?” he wrote in a post on X. ( Fox News; X) Sean Morrisson—a county commissioner in Cook County, Illinois—issued a statement: … Pritzker has crossed a dangerous line ( X). Liz Wheeler: I warned before the election, the left is planning the BLM riots 2.0. It’s coming ( X).

Trump on Iran: Would “Willingly" Join Israel in Military Negotiations Collapse
|
Free Beacon: The United States will “willingly” join Israel in launching a military operation against Iran if negotiations to dismantle Tehran’s nuclear program collapse, President Donald Trump said in an interview this week … “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing,” Trump said at the time. “It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before” ( Free Beacon). Kurt Schlichter: Iran is a threat to the United States. It has maimed and murdered our people. It has, directly and through proxies, threatened to kill our President, though, in that way it’s basically channeling much of the Democrat party. It must be made an example of. And now is the time to do it. We have the forces in place. The Israelis are chomping at the bit to help, which is very useful. According to open-source information, at least six B-2 bombers are on-station and can attack dug-in facilities. Two carrier battle groups and cruise missile subs are also in the region, as well as other forces. They can’t stay on-station forever. The Iranians know this. That’s why they’re dragging out these bogus negotiations. Eventually, those forces will have to come home. We can’t be poised to do this forever, or even for very long ( Townhall).

But the key to this is victory…” Also attending was Mike Huckabee, our nation’s new US Ambassador to Israel: In his speech, Huckabee stressed that the alliance between the US and Israel “is not political; it is spiritual, because the only explanation for the creation, survival, and victory of Israel is the hand of God over this land, and so it will always be. Don’t Believe the Lie: The Abortion Pill Is Not Safe

Killing the innocent unborn life and creating serious adverse impact on over 10 percent of those who take it. Ryan Anderson on EPPC’s research: Over 850,000 chemical abortions. 10.93% of the women who took the drug suffered a serious adverse event like sepsis, infection, or hemorrhaging. 22 times higher than what the FDA label claims ( X). EPPC: Simply stated, mifepristone, as used in real-world conditions, is not “safe and effective.”

Our research shows unequivocally that mifepristone abortion, as currently practiced in the U.S., is considerably more dangerous to women than is represented on the FDA-approved drug label ( EPPC). It’s worth highlighting: It’s the abortion pill that shifted the trajectory on numbers of abortions in the nation: After a fairly consistent 37-year decline, the U.S. abortion rate started to increase in 2017, shortly after the Obama administration FDA loosened regulations on chemical abortion drugs ( National Review).

Professing Christians Gather at Abortion Facilities … to Bless Them
|
Egregious and ghastly.” National Review: Around the same time that thousands of pro-lifers in Ohio gathered for the state’s March for Life last October, a smaller group of people assembled for a quite different purpose in Maryland. The Nation recently provided a dispatch of their activities at an abortion clinic in a small town in the state. “A handful of religious leaders and people of faith” had come there, not to protest or dissuade any women inside from following through with their intention of killing the unborn life they bore. Rather, they were there to provide “a blessing for the providers and staff, and the communities they serve, to acknowledge the clinic’s work as sacred.” Their effort is egregious and ghastly. Yet it should remind pro-lifers of the challenge we face. The dubious blessers had come under the auspices of the Religious Community for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), an abortion-promoting organization formed after Roe v. Wade legalized the practice in all 50 states. It is a successor to the pre-Roe Clergy Consultation Service on Abortion, which facilitated then-illegal abortions ( National Review).

Gen Z Is Finding Religion
|
That’s the claim from a piece at Vox. But—there’s no question—our younger generation is finding hedonistic, secular agnosticism less than satisfying. Vox: Sometime around or after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, young Americans began to find, or at least retain, religious belief at higher rates than previous generations. The numbers tell this story quite cleanly. While the share of “nones” jumped by about 40 percent from 2008 to 2013, the rise began to slow between 2013 and 2018 ( Vox). Economist: On average, each successive birth cohort has been 10% less Christian than its predecessors. But new data from the Pew Research Centre shows that Gen Z is about as religious as older peers. If Americans born between 2000 and 2006—a cohort at the heart of Gen Z—followed their predecessors, about 41% would identify as Christian. Instead Pew’s data shows that 46% do ( Economist).

Fox News: In a dramatic reversal, the governing Liberals, who were trailing the official opposition Conservatives in the polls earlier this year, appear poised to win their fourth consecutive term in office thanks to President Donald Trump’s threats against Canada’s economy and sovereignty, according to election watchers. “It looks like there will be a Liberal government, which seems to be what the polls point to, and it would be a very big surprise if the Conservatives won,” Angus Reid, founder and chair of the Angus Reid Institute, told Fox News Digital ( Fox News).
