Friends, I just wrapped up a recess from Congress, and I want to talk to you about how it went.
I know “recess” sounds like a “break,” but it’s actually one of the most important parts of my work – connecting directly with my constituents in meetings and town halls, and visiting other states, countries, and worksites to see the direct impact of the work we’re doing in Congress.
I was fortunate to spend most of this recess right here in PA-04. It was especially important to me that I hear directly from the people I serve at a time of massive Trump-induced upheaval, especially while the GOP is refusing to hold town halls to answer for their party and leadership. So here’s how it went:

Mad speaking to the Abington Dems.
Up first, I met with my hometown committee, Abington Dems. It’s always one of my favorite stops because it reminds me of where I started and just how important the work we’re doing in the House is for local parties, communities, and elections.
We had a great turnout. I was grateful to those who showed up, asked difficult questions, and shared their stories and concerns about the moment we’re in.

Then, I hosted a town hall at the Montco Cultural Center, where folks across the district packed in for a full house. The people are fired up, and this is what came up again and again:
1. These times are a serious test of our democracy.
2. This administration is not the norm, and we can’t let it become that way.
3. Those in the majority and in the administration need to return to telling the truth.
4. I’m glad to share that the crowd really loved my 4 C’s of opposition — Congress, courts, citizen engagement, and calling out inaction within the GOP.
People are anxious and afraid of the damage the Trump administration has already done, and what it could do to their lives and livelihoods going forward.
I feel that fear as well.
But I’m here to fight back and not let that fear paralyze the work constituents sent me to Washington to do. I’m glad to have connected with everyone who joined this important conversation.
I ended my recess by spending Easter with my family before joining Democratic House Leader Hakeem Jeffries on a congressional delegation.
I love gathering with my kids and the grandchildren for all of the Easter traditions that made growing up right here in PA-04 so special. While we’re on the subject of Easter Sunday, I want to note the sad news of Pope Francis’ passing and commend his lifelong dedication to service, progress, and advocating for the planet and the poor. May we continue his legacy.
I love my work in Congress. Spending time in the district to meet with constituents, hear about the effects of actions in Washington on our community, and help provide resources, hope, and truthful information is an honor, a responsibility, and one of my favorite parts of the job.
Remember: when we work together and fight together, we can’t be silenced. Thanks for showing up, using your voice, and being a part of this community.
