John,
This Wednesday is Trump’s 100th day in office, and so many of the fears that we had 101 days ago have already been realized.
But with voters showing up in town halls across the country, and with Trump’s approval ratings plummeting, we have to hold on to an important truth: we do have power in this moment.
Only a few weeks ago, this community helped to secure a critical state supreme court seat in the battleground state of Wisconsin, despite facing incredible headwinds to the tune of $25 million spent by Elon Musk to buy the election. We won anyway, and it wasn’t close.
As our end-of-month fundraising deadline approaches, please consider fighting back against Trump’s extreme agenda by chipping in $25 to elect leaders who will protect our communities.
When it comes to reproductive freedom and our families, Trump continues to say one thing and do another.
He recently referred to himself as ‘the fertilization president’ (ew!) and floated the idea of $5,000 baby bonuses for new moms.
Of course, we support anything to make life easier for new parents! But looking at his actions in just these first 100 days, the Trump administration has already made life much harder for working families:
-
They’re attacking childcare and early education: They’re gutting The Office of Head Start, with local programs already shutting down. They’ve proposed eliminating the program entirely, which would leave
one million working families with no affordable option for preschool or childcare.
-
They’re working to dismantle healthcare for kids: Trump-aligned lawmakers are moving to slash Medicaid, which helps millions of children and their parents access necessary healthcare. Nearly 42% of all births in this country are covered by Medicaid.
-
They’re defunding crucial, basic services for families: Federal funding for things like electricity assistance, school meals, youth homelessness programs, and child support enforcement has been withdrawn or suspended—hurting the most vulnerable families first.
We often talk about “reproductive freedom” and not just “abortion access.” That’s because our mission is to build a world where everyone has the tools and resources they need to grow or build a family in a safe, healthy community. Abortion access is foundational to our mission, but without things like paid leave, childcare, or access to comprehensive healthcare, young families will continue to struggle.
Trump is a danger to reproductive freedom, so we need a whole-of-government approach to fight back.
If you’re able, please consider chipping in $25 to help us elect state and local leaders who will defend our communities against these attacks.
We’re so grateful you’re in this movement with us.
With gratitude,
Sara Tabatabaie
