John, here’s what I have to say to people who think we need to cut “waste” in our state spending: Look at the returns we’re getting to taxpayers here in the Commonwealth.

Since taking a more comprehensive and holistic approach to safety in our communities, violent crime is down 16% – that’s further than the national average.

As someone who was spurred into public service by an instance of gun violence in my neighborhood as a young person, this statistic means a lot to me. Kids today are growing up with less violence because of good public policy, and the best part is we can keep this trend progressing if we continue to invest in each other.

DOGE is not the model. When we invest taxpayer money into our most precious resource – the people – the benefit is unparalleled. Cutting investments to our communities to fund tax breaks for the wealthy isn’t how we take care of each other, and it’s not how we do things in PA.
