Since nationwide protests erupted over the tragic killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers, Cindy Hyde-Smith has been completely silent about the protests here in Mississippi — an insult to the 1.1 million Black Mississippians who face systemic racism in their everyday lives.

The sitting senator hasn’t acknowledged the hurt our nation is feeling. She has failed to speak about systemic racism and police violence. And on the day of Black Lives Matter protests across the country and all over Mississippi, which Mike invited her to, she stayed completely silent.

Perhaps most cowardly of all, Cindy Hyde-Smith won’t say the words “Black Lives Matter.”

Instead, all she did was repeat a meaningless quote from her best friend, Mitch McConnell. Try again.

It’s clear: This is the same old Cindy Hyde-Smith who was caught taking a photo in confederate regalia, proposed attending a “public hanging,” and suggested it was a “good idea” to suppress the vote at “liberal” colleges. She doesn’t regret a thing.

This all goes to show that as Hyde-Smith continues to drag Mississippi backward, Mike Espy is ready to lead us into a brighter, more united future.

November is our chance to replace Hyde-Smith with Mike Espy in the U.S. Senate and give Mississippians a leader who will do right by them: Chip in $10 or more right now to help Mike win.
