Hi John,
Today, the Fairfax County Democratic Committee is saddened by our Congressman Gerry Connolly's announcement that his cancer has returned, and that he will not be seeking reelection. Fairfax County is tremendously blessed to have benefitted from 30 years of Gerry Connolly's leadership, beginning with his time on the Board of Supervisors, as Chairman of the Board, and now as a member of Congress for the past 16 years. Fairfax County today is a better place because of his long service.
I'm personally thankful to Gerry for his welcoming spirit and enduring interest in local government and grassroots activism, even after he grew in stature to become a national figure in Congress. Gerry is the sort of leader who can be seen one moment on CNN speaking out on matters of global importance, and in the next moment beckoning you for a handshake or a hug at his annual St. Patrick's Day fete. I am grateful for the opportunity to know and learn from Gerry, to hear his sage advice, and to laugh at his witty commentary.
We offer Congressman Connolly our well-wishes for his health, and our steadfast support as he continues fighting for federal workers, safe and flourishing communities, democracy, and our unalienable rights.
Sincerely, FCDC Chair Aaron Yohai |
