Dear friends,
This Autism Acceptance Month, we’re focusing on the people we’re fighting for. We’re thinking about the lives we want autistic people to be able to lead. And we’re thinking about how to keep our community well rested during this long journey.
We fight because we know our community deserves joy. Joy comes more easily and often when our rights are not under attack. In our years-long journey in disability advocacy, it can be easy to forget that we’re not just fighting against attacks on our rights. We’re also fighting for our lives worth living. For our ability to live safely in our homes and communities. For our right to make choices. For our families, in all their forms.
It can feel overwhelming. This work is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes all of us working together, and taking breaks when we need them. We want to make it as easy as possible to understand different ways to help, with toolkits, action alerts, and statements explaining the problems we face.
Your support makes our work possible. This Autism Acceptance Month, and every month, here are ways you can make a difference:
- Donate to us directly here
- Or become a member and get exclusive perks here
- Start a Facebook fundraiser at no cost to you, and share with friends
- Buy a copy of Loud Hands or another one of our books here
- Get a sticker or other item from our Threadless shop
- Spread the word about us! You can tell your friends about us on social media, via email, or in person
We fight because we want better for ourselves and our communities. Together, we can build a future with more joy.
In solidarity,
