 Dear Friend,
Over the last few weeks, Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist and I have been speaking to people across Michigan who are concerned about what rushed and reckless cuts to Medicaid could mean for those who rely on it to stay healthy.
Right now, Republicans in DC are trying to terminate access to health care by slashing billions from Medicaid. If this goes into effect, the cost of health care will go up for every single American. Here in Michigan, 750,000 people could lose access to health care. The cuts would hit even harder in small towns and rural Michigan where 37% of residents are covered by Medicaid.
Behind each of these numbers are our friends and neighbors whose lives would be turned upside down. Thanks to Medicaid, survivors of breast cancer can afford annual mammograms, more families can get dental care or visit a primary care doctor, and parents can focus on getting their sick kid to the ER instead of worrying about the bill.
In short, Medicaid saves lives, lowers costs, and keeps us healthy.
If you or a loved one is one of the 2.6 million Michiganders who receive health care from Medicaid, I want to hear from you. Click the button below to fill out the survey and share your story with me.

Earlier this month, I signed an executive directive to make sure Michigan is ready to respond to Republican-proposed cuts to Medicaid. We are sending a clear message to anyone trying to trade your health care for someone else’s tax cut: Medicaid is not for sale.
I’ll keep fighting to lower the cost of health care and support your access to critical programs like Medicaid.
Sincerely,
 Gretchen Whitmer
Governor
