Hi John,
My name is David Nir, political director at Daily Kos. I’m supporting Ritchie Torres in his June 23rd Primary, and I wanted to spend some time explaining why, given the importance of this race.
New York’s 15th Congressional District is America’s bluest district. Yet if the election were held today, there’s a strong possibility that Ruben Diaz, Sr., one of the most notorious homophobes in American politics, would win. If that doesn’t sit well with you, good. It shouldn’t.
We can do better, John. We have a strong and progressive answer to Diaz’s bigotry and hatred, and his name is Ritchie Torres.
Ritchie is the champion that the people of New York’s 15th District deserve, John. With less than two weeks to go before the primary, we don’t have much time to give him the push he needs to win. Will you join me in chipping in $25 to support Ritchie?

Daily Kos is proud to endorse City Councilman Ritchie Torres for the June 23rd primary. He’s been a tireless fighter for Bronx families on the City Council, and he’s worked to ensure that they always have a seat at the table. We need more of that in Washington.
On the other hand, Ruben Diaz, Sr. is the antithesis of the progressive agenda that Ritchie fights for every day. He’s equated being gay to “having sex with animals,” called abortions “the American Holocaust,” and has even proudly campaigned with Ted Cruz in the Bronx!
More recently, when asked who he was supporting in November’s presidential election, he told reporters, "I don't know yet.” That he still hasn’t made up his mind between Biden and Trump should tell you everything you need to know about Diaz.
But this race is still going to be close—and you could be the difference between Ruben Diaz, Sr. and Ritchie Torres representing Bronx families.

This race is about who we are as a country—are we going to reward hatred and bigotry with something as important as a seat in Congress, or are we going to reject it? I know where Ritchie stands, and it’s why I’m standing with him on June 23rd. Join me today.
Thanks,
David Nir
