California just passed Japan as the fourth largest economy in the world. This is a real point of pride for us. We're a big big blue state that produces 14% of the Gross Domestic Product of the United States and 50% more than the next big state.
But here's something you won't ever hear on Fox News:
We're a donor state. In 2023, Californians contributed $83.1 billion more than we received from the federal government.
And Texas? They TOOK $71.1 billion more than they provided the federal government.
I say that to make a broader point. Seventy-one percent of the economic output in the United States comes from blue counties, blue metros, blue states—places with lower rates of deaths of despair, higher wages, greater productivity, stronger growth, and lower death rates as it relates to murder.
It is a mythology that somehow red states are dominating and blue states are struggling. It's factually untrue.
