Friend --
The Senate cannot wait a second longer before taking action on criminal justice and policing reform.
That's why I'm proud to join Senators Cory Booker and Kamala Harris, as well as other leaders in the Senate, in introducing the Justice in Policing Act.
We need to see real change, we need to see it now, and we simply cannot afford to see this bill go the way of Mitch McConnell's famous legislative graveyard (where essential legislation championed by Democrats goes to die).
Add your name here to demand Mitch McConnell take up the Justice in Policing Act, the Senate's criminal justice and policing reform bill, immediately.
The protests across the country over the past few weeks following the murder of George Floyd have once again put America's long and tragic history of systemic racism on display.
I believe the Justice in Policing Act can serve as a foundation for creating a more just system, requiring accountability and transparency in policing and a fundamental rethinking of how police officers use force.
To all those who've issued a call, my Senate partners and I hear -- and applaud -- your heartfelt demands, and we will not let them go unanswered.
So today I'm asking that you add your voice to the millions around the country who are demanding reforms: Please sign your name to tell Mitch McConnell to take up the Justice in Policing Act immediately.
Thank you for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Patrick Leahy
U.S. Senator
