My name is Marsha Laufer. You might know me from the time I had the pleasure and challenges of serving as the Chair of the Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee for 8 years, leading efforts to expand Democratic voter registration and elect Democrats to offices all up and down the ballot.

Today, I wanted to check in with you regarding my longtime and dear friend, Nancy Goroff, to tell you why I am all-in to help her win the campaign for Congress in New York’s 1st District.

I have known Nancy for many years, both personally and professionally. As a professor and administrator at Stony Brook University, her professional credentials are first rate. She is highly regarded and respected by students and her colleagues for her high-quality research, her scientific knowledge and expertise, her administrative skills and leadership, her diplomacy, and her mentoring. She is a great friend.

I was very excited when Nancy told me that she felt compelled to run for Congress and bring her scientific knowledge to the policy table where relevant decisions are being made regarding critical issues such as climate change and the health of all Americans. We need knowledgeable, informed, smart individuals in Congress who are motivated to make this a better country for ALL of us. I know that Nancy Goroff will go to Washington, make her strong voice heard, and has the potential to make a significant impact.

At a time when the scientific facts and research presented by experts have been ignored and even rejected by Trump and his closest allies in the House like Lee Zeldin, we need leaders like Nancy to set the record straight and put forward scientifically-based information and policy. That is why I proudly and enthusiastically support her candidacy.

Polling shows that when voters hear from Nancy about her scientific background and record of improving people’s lives on Long Island, she wins this race. Every dollar the campaign is able to raise over the next 12 days will go directly into telling Nancy’s story, building her name recognition among voters, reaching every person they need to win, and getting them to the polls or getting them to fill out those Vote By Mail Ballots for Nancy Goroff!
