John,

Yesterday, Governor Whitmer addressed the hurt brought on by the death of George Floyd and said that it's on every leader in this country to work urgently until we achieve that cultural change that's overdue."

Seeing Donna everyday in her role as our state representative and as the future leader of Michigan House Democratic Caucus, we know she’s a leader who has always worked to achieve this overdue change.

But there are some “leaders” who are not.

As far-right extremists waving nooses, swastikas and Confederate flags descended on Lansing to intimidate our Governor and Legislature, Republicans celebrated and embraced them in the Capitol.

As Gov. Whitmer worked to flatten the curve, Republicans sued to stop her.

As people gathered to protest the death of a black man who had a knee crush his neck and shine a light on systemic racial injustices in our country, Republicans turned the White House lights off.

As the inescapable exhaustion, frustration and hurt that our African-American neighbors feel everyday has boiled over after the gut wrenching death of George Floyd, where are Michigan’s Republican Legislative leaders?

Absent. They've turned the lights off.

It’s on every leader now to bring long overdue change to our county.

We know that Donna is one of those leaders who demands change and won’t stay silent in our fight for dignity, equality and humanity.

Help us keep a real leader like Donna in Lansing!

In Solidarity,
Team Donna
