My name is Kat Abughazaleh. I'm a 26-year-old cat mom, journalist, and — as of last month — a candidate for Congress.

We just got some shocking news about my race and I think you'll want to hear it. The incumbent Democrat in my district reportedly won't seek re-election. But this doesn't mean I'll sail on through to victory.

There are a lot of people who might jump into this election but none of them have pledged not to take AIPAC money. To her credit, the retiring incumbent never took any money from AIPAC or DMFI. Neither will I.

But I know that AIPAC is looking to put another anti-democracy politician in Congress using Republican donor money. I wouldn't be surprised if they recruit someone who will shill for war crimes on the House floor and cast disgraceful votes like sanctioning the International Criminal Court.

Right now I have the advantage of being the only declared candidate in the race but that advantage won't last long. And AIPAC is most likely gearing up to spend millions of dollars against me and my grassroots campaign just because I'm a Palestinian-American.
