My birthday is just another day for animals who are facing life-threatening danger, hard labor, and neglect. Would you please help them?
I hope all's well with you. I'm writing because I'm so happy being asked, "What would you like for your 71st birthday?" There's definitely one item on my wish list: for you and other caring friends to help animals who would benefit tremendously from your generosity.
Animals like this tiny jackal.
This poor pup must have been terrified after tumbling into the murky water at the bottom of an 80-foot-deep well, his fear growing with each passing minute he spent alone.
When Animal Rahat team members arrived on the scene, they found the young jackal cowering on a rocky ledge. Despite the deep well's shoddy construction, a skilled rescuer didn't hesitate to climb in and carefully rappel down to help. He gently scooped the frightened pup into a net and carefully pulled him up to safety. A veterinary exam found that he miraculously wasn't hurt—and soon afterward, he was sprinting off, back to his forest home, no doubt thrilled to be free again.
This is only one little animal's rescue story, but Animal Rahat has many more. Every year, the team speedily and skillfully rescues wild animals—including wolves, foxes, deer, crocodiles, snakes, and peacocks—as well as dogs, bullocks, and donkeys from what would have been watery graves.
As a child growing up in that country, I witnessed firsthand the abuse and neglect that animals are forced to endure there, and each time I return, I find myself even more determined to end as much of that misery as I can.
"Rahat" means "relief" in Hindi, and with your support, Animal Rahat can provide just that, giving animals the urgent assistance and care that they need. Your help today will provide vital resources to do the following:
Rescue more animals like the jackal pup from life-threatening situations
Replace sorely overworked donkeys and bullocks with trucks or other mechanized vehicles—sparing them a lifetime of backbreaking labor in brick kilns and sugar factories and providing a peaceful retirement
Perform spay/neuter surgeries and give other veterinary care to hundreds of dogs and cats each year whose illnesses and injuries would otherwise go untreated
Feed hungry bullocks, dogs, donkeys, goats, and other animals who lost access to their food sources because of the lockdowns, monsoon flooding, and other disasters
Animal Rahat works around the clock—even during the current pandemic—to reach as many suffering animals as possible, and today, it needs your help.
No birthday gift would be better than knowing that abused and neglected animals are getting the care that they so desperately need. I would be overjoyed if you could honor my birthday with a generous gift to PETA's projects supporting Animal Rahat's vital work.
Kind regards,
Ingrid E. Newkirk
President
