Email from Political Research Associates Plus recordings of our previous webinars March/April 2025 This is a busy season—not just for PRA, but for everyone working to stop rapidly escalating authoritarian state repression. While we huddle up with our movement partners to flank those on the frontlines of the resistance effort, we are continuing to produce the critical analysis needed in this unique moment. To address the ever evolving terrain of contestation, PRA will be hosting a two-part webinar series on The First 100 Days of Authoritarian Gains: Key Analysis to Inform our Resistance. Now, more than ever, we need to take honest stock of where we're at, in order to strategize how to move forward. Join PRA experts on Wednesday, May 7th at 1pm ET/10am PT for a timely webinar examining the first 100 days of the new administration and plotting a path forward for resistance. We will analyze the escalating authoritarian regime and the foundational threats it poses to our communities and social movements. We'll take a close look at anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim scapegoating and policy, as well as attacks on civil liberties and the right to protest on college campuses and beyond. And we'll uplift strategies to block these authoritarian advances and build toward the just and vibrant multiracial democracy that we continue to demand. We hope to see you there. The First 100 Days of Authoritarian Gains: Key Analysis to Inform our Resistance Join PRA on May 7th, 2025 at 1:00 PM ET/10:00 AM PT for a webinar that examines the first 100 days of the new administration. Opening remarks by Sylvia Broude. Moderated by Naomi Washington-Leapheart. Panelists: Steven Gardiner and Ethan Fauré. In the first 100 days of the new administration we have witnessed a dizzying authoritarian escalation on virtually all fronts. Now more than ever we need to take honest stock of where we're at, in order to strategize how to move forward. Register Here In Case You Missed It Despite the white-washing of Elon Musk's Nazi salute by mainstream media and the Anti-Defamation League, antisemitism remains baked into the MAGA agenda of White and Christian nationalism, conspiracism, division and fear. Since October 7, accusations of antisemitism have been increasingly used by the authoritarian Right to silence the Palestine solidarity movement and further a neo-McCarthyist crusade. None of this is new, but as the new administration uses real and weaponized antisemitism to advance its repressive agenda, the stakes are higher than ever. How do we fight antisemitism through a politics of solidarity and collective liberation? How do we forge the coalitions across communities that we need, in order to confront the shared threats we face and build towards a better future? In conversation with Reverend Naomi Washington-Leapheart, authors Ben Lorber and Shane Burley discuss insights from their new book Safety through Solidarity: A Radical Guide to Fighting Antisemitism. The wide-ranging conversation helps us break the current impasse to understand how antisemitism works, what’s missing in mainstream narratives, and how to build true safety through solidarity, for Jews and all people. Watch Here Following popular demand, PRA hosted a Part II of our recent webinar "What to Do About the New Apostolic Reformation." Naomi Washington-Leapheart, Scot Nakagawa, Matthew D. Taylor, John C. Dorhauer, and Frederick Clarkson were joined by award-winning author Katherine Stewart, whose important new book Money, Lies and God: Inside the Movement to Destroy American Democracy concludes with the chapter, "The Way Forward?" Watch here PRA, together with the The Horizons Project, 22nd Century Initiative and core partners have developed the Harnessing Our Power to End Political Violence (HOPE-PV) project, built on backfire principles that turn violence into a disadvantage for perpetrators by imposing social, political, and economic costs. These principles include public exposure, humanizing victims, coalition building, imposing costs, and amplifying facts. By mobilizing these principles, HOPE-PV makes political violence backfire, turning community outrage and collective action into powerful tools for social resilience and accountability. Want to Know What a Project 2025 World Looks Like? Just Ask the Homeschoolers Who Lived it by Abbi Nye The uproar surrounding the SAVE Act often focuses on the obvious people who would be disenfranchised by the bill—namely transgender and lower-income citizens. But homeschool alumni spotted something even more sinister: a movement toward head-of-household voting. Defense Secretary Hegseth’s New ‘Kafir’ Tattoo is the Perfect Encapsulation of Trumpish Foreign Policy by Annika Brockschmidt and Thomas Lecaque Pete Hegseth’s new “kafir” tattoo is the perfect encapsulation of Trumpish foreign policy: offensive, brutish, and flaunting its disregard for anyone who isn’t a White, conservative Christian aligned with the administration’s draconian policy positions. RFK Jr’s Campaign Against Seed Oils Isn’t Just Junk Science — It’s Misogynist Identity Politics by Susannah Crockford The symbolic associations of seed oils and how these have evolved from online right discourse suggest that RFK Jr’s policy proposal has more to do with disturbing ideas about gender and identity than it does about health.
