Tune in for today's LaRouche Show, starting at 10 am (EDT)

Friend

In Pope Francis’ last address, his Easter “Urbi et Orbi”, he stated: “I would like us to renew our hope that peace is possible!” This is an important declaration considering that many have given up on peace being possible in the world, especially when it comes to the conflict of the Middle East. But if we give up on peace, we also accept the continuation of the suffering and killing of civilians taking place in Gaza and many other parts of the world. As the Pope also said in his address:

I think of the people of Gaza, and its Christian community in particular, where the terrible conflict continues to cause death and destruction and to create a dramatic and deplorable humanitarian sitution. I appeal to the warring parties: call a ceasefire, release the hostages and come to the aid of a starving people….

Peace is possible for the entire world, and it would be easier for Americans to see this potential if they were to understand what the New Paradigm led by the BRICS nations represented. Trump clearly does not understand this process, which is evident in his destructive trade war. But much of the world has moved forward and that process is unstoppable. Trump has run up against this boundary condition, and has therefore been forced to reduce the exorbitant 145% tariff rate he has imposed on China. U.S. Treasury Secretary, Scott Besset, warned that the China trade war is “unsustainable”. Indeed, imposing tariffs on China, much like the sanctions imposed on Russia, will harm China far less than it will harm the United States.

The Trump administration has not given up on peace being possible between Russia and the United States, but there are serious obstacles to overcome. The United States pulled out of a meeting of foreign ministers, which was set to take place in London, because Zelenskyy refused to attend. Zelenskyy is continuing to insist that Crimea should not be a part of Russia and instead should be returned to Ukrainian territory. Trump said that Zelenskyy is making it difficult to settle the war, and that it’s harder to deal with him than with Russia.

The LaRouche Organization and the Schiller Institute play a uniquely historic role in creating world wide peace. The ideas of Lyndon LaRouche and his wife Helga Zepp-LaRouche continue to be an inpiration and absolute necessity for many in the world who are turning to the LaRouche Organization's unique solutions to the global crisis, ideas that are based on the universality of mankind, and that the way to peace lies in the development and creative progress for all. In this light, it is no wonder that one of the leading publications in Egypt, Al-Masry Al-Youm, the largest independent (not state-owned) daily in the country, published a full-page interview on the front page with Hussein Askary, the Schiller Institute’s West Asia Coordinator. The interview covered key topics such as who Lyndon LaRouche was and a detailed discussion of his Oasis Plan proposal for bringing peace to the Middle East.

Starting At 10am (EDT)! This Week's LaRouche Show:

In May of 1994, Lyndon LaRouche delivered a speech just outside of Washington, D.C. reporting on his recently concluded six-day trip to Moscow where he had met with leading members of the Russian intelligentsia. In this presentation, LaRouche clearly laid out the exciting perspective of a U.S-Russia-China collaboration to achieve lasting peace through global economic development.

With the potential for a renewed US-Russia partnership back on the table, a thorough study of Lyndon LaRouche's groundbreaking initiatives with top thinkers and policy makers in the former Soviet Union is a "must read" for any serious students of American foreign policy.

Humanity At the Junction of History: Which Way Forward?

On April 25,1945, eighty years ago, American and Soviet troops met at the Elbe River in Torgau, Germany, finally cutting through Nazi lines. Those troops expressed happiness upon meeting each other, and engaged in heartfelt exchanges on the cusp of victory, in a war that would account, ultimately, for perhaps 100 million dead worldwide. Their meeting produced what was termed the “Spirit of the Elbe,” dedicated to the idea that all nations of the world must find a common path to diplomacy without resorting to war, and prevent such a catastrophic conflict as World War II from ever happening again.

Look in a positive way, then, from the standpoint of that “Spirit of the Elbe,” to the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Russia, developing, despite interference from British and other agencies.

In our world full of turbulence, there are certain anomalies occurring which indicate a significant process of change and transformation that has the potential to “cross the Elbe” from the old ‘rules-based order’ to a new paradigm based on cooperation and mutual benefit between nations.

Friday Symposium:

April 25, 2025, marks the 80th anniversary of the famous "Meeting at the Elbe" when the Russian and American troops crossed the Elbe River at Torgau, Germany, breaking the Nazi lines after more than four years of bloody war.  The Soviet Union had lost 27 million lives, and over 400,000 Americans gave their last "measure of devotion" to defeat the Nazi scourge.

Veteran LaRouche organizer Joe Jennings joins Diane to again visit the founding of the United States of America, but with particular emphasis on our collaboration with Russia.
