Yes, that’s me, John!

From a young age (and crimped hair), I’ve always been committed to community service and standing up for where I was born and raised – from the Girl Scouts to running for Congress!

I’m running for Congress for families like mine. My mom worked as a public school employee, and my dad was a small business owner in Chino.

Everything changed when my dad was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. I remember sitting in hospital waiting rooms, listening to doctors and watching my parents try and hold it together. My dad passed away in August of ‘94. Then, it was just my mom raising me on her own – doing whatever it took.

My story is personal, but it’s not unique. Families are getting hit from all directions – health scares, rising prices, pay cuts, layoffs, you name it.

It’s only gotten worse in the thirty years since my dad died, and it’s why I knew I had to step up.

Families in our community work hard, sacrifice, and give it their all. And yet, it’s the ultra-wealthy and giant corporations who always seem to have the rules written in their favor while we’re told to “work harder."

I’m running because our representative Young Kim isn’t standing up for the community I love. We deserve leaders who know what it’s like to struggle, and won’t turn their backs when times get tough, or it becomes politically uncomfortable.
