Soldiers’ Angels Expands Food Support to Washington, D.C.!
Soldiers’ Angels is excited to announce that our Monthly Military and Veteran Food Distribution (MVFD) program is expanding to Washington, D.C. this summer! Thanks to partnerships with Capital Area Food Bank, Blue Star Families, and generous support from Lockheed Martin, we’ll be able to serve thousands of Military-connected families across the DMV area.
In response to the rising challenges of inflation and the continued disproportionate rate of food insecurity among Service Members and Veterans, Soldiers’ Angels has committed to expand food support efforts by 50% in 2025. Earlier this year, we launched a new MVFD site in Cincinnati—and Washington, D.C. will mark the second new location to open in 2025. Launching new programs like these is just the beginning of our broader effort to grow our reach and support even more heroes in need.
The first Washington, D.C. food distribution event will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Basilica of the National Shrine.
Registration will open in early June, and Veterans and Military-connected residents of the area are encouraged to sign up for updates at SoldiersAngels.org/DC [[link removed]].
"As our Veterans and Service Members continue to battle food insecurity, Soldiers’ Angels is ramping up our efforts to support families who need a helping hand," said Soldiers’ Angels President and CEO, Amy Palmer. "This year, we’re proud to expand to new communities like Washington, D.C., ensuring that no one who served our country goes hungry."
Through partnerships and collaboration, we’re strengthening the safety net for Military families, one community at a time. If you are an individual, corporation, or organization interested in sponsoring a food distribution in any of our eight sites, please reach out now, and let's collaborate on this critical need! (Sites: Atlanta, GA; Charleston, SC; Cincinnati, OH; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Orlando, FL; San Antonio, TX; Washington, D.C.)
Thank you for standing with us as we grow our impact in 2025 and beyond!

The Power of a Letter: Stories That Warm the Heart
A handwritten letter can do more than fill a mailbox—it can create lasting connections across thousands of miles.
In honor of National Letter Writing Month, we’re celebrating the incredible Soldiers’ Angels volunteers who pour their hearts into letters for deployed Service Members and Veterans. From friendships that have lasted years to simple notes that sparked big smiles, these stories show just how powerful a few words on a page can be. Here's just a couple of the stories from our Angels:
“I wrote a letter to a Service Member in Iraq. He wrote me back, and we corresponded for another 6 months. I learned so much about his job, what the base accommodations were like, and the fun competitions they held during the months over there. He preferred receiving letters vs. emails because he liked getting actual letters. He said every letter was a nice surprise that someone was thinking about him.” – Angel Andee
“I’ve written many, many letters and received quite a few notes of thanks back. But there’s one that has become a pen pal and good friend. He’s a wounded Veteran who continues to undergo treatment from a VAMC, and our relationship has developed into one that is rewarding on many levels for both of us. We’ve each grown and, yes, healed one another in quiet ways by discovering and sharing things in common. We hope to meet one another someday in person. In the meanwhile, we smile each time we receive each other’s letters.” – Angel Rebecca

Spreading Smiles, One Bear at a Time
Soldiers’ Angels recently partnered with Team Bonding at Deloitte University for a special Build-A-Bear event during Deloitte's Veteran, Military, Spouses, and Allies Leadership Summit.
Participants learned about the Soldiers’ Angels mission and helped stuff and decorate 150 bears for Military and Veteran children in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We can’t wait to deliver these bears to kids at our food distributions, VA coffee services, Fisher House luncheons, and summer activities—bringing comfort, joy, and smiles to our youngest heroes!
Keeping Our Troops Hydrated with Prime Hydration
A huge thank you to Prime Hydration for donating a 24-pallet supply of hydration sticks and other hydration products to Soldiers' Angels so far this year! This generous support has already been shared with 12 Military bases—and counting.
Their incredible donation is helping keep Service Members across the country hydrated, energized, and mission-ready.
Prime has been an outstanding partner, and their support continues to grow as they reach even more bases. We’re deeply grateful for their commitment to our nation’s heroes!
