 Governor Mike DeWine held a press conference at Hopewell Elementary School in Dublin to lay out plans for the statewide expansion of Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS).

MRSS provides immediate help for children and young adults 20 and under who are experiencing overwhelming mental, emotional, or behavioral distress. With MRSS, when a crisis like this occurs, a team of trained professionals responds within 60 minutes directly to the young person’s home, school, or any other location to de-escalate the crisis and provide ongoing support – all at no cost to the young person or his or her family.
“MRSS is one of the most important tools we have at our disposal to respond quickly and effectively when a child is experiencing a crisis,” said Governor DeWine. “Last year, I announced that we wanted to take this service statewide. Now, that goal is becoming a reality. It’s another example of how we’re protecting the mental health of our young people so they can reach their full potential.”
Lt. Governor Tressel issued a statement following the death of Pope Francis:
"Ellen and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Pope Francis this morning. Let us remember him as a man who served others, especially the most needy, and led with kindness and wisdom. May he rest in peace."
In accordance with orders issued by the President of the United States of America, Governor DeWine ordered that the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio until sunset on the day of interment.
Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced details of an impactful learning opportunity for communities looking to expand broadband access in their area.
Throughout the month of May, Ohio’s Broadband Community Accelerator Program will be hosting sessions in five regions across the state to update local leaders on past, current, and upcoming broadband projects—and help communities prepare for future state and federal funding opportunities.
“As we move closer to achieving universal coverage across Ohio, local leaders will continue to play an important role because they understand the unique needs of their community,” said Governor DeWine. “These sessions will provide guidance on how to leverage funding opportunities and successful projects in the future."
“Ensuring that every household is connected to high-speed internet is a multi-layered process, and education is a key aspect of that,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “Through the BroadbandOhio Accelerator program, we’re ensuring that every community receives the expert support they’re going to need as they look to take advantage of additional funding over the coming months and years.”
Governor DeWine signed the following bills into law:

Senate Bill 33, sponsored by State Senators Steve Wilson (R-Maineville) and George Lang (R-West Chester), allows employers to post certain labor law notices on the internet.

House Bill 43, sponsored by State Representatives Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula) and David Thomas (R-Jefferson), waives the required minimum instructional hours for Ashtabula Lakeside High School due to the school building being unusable and declares an emergency.

The Ohio Third Frontier Commission approved $67,440,000 to help entrepreneurs develop innovative products and to support the research and commercialization of medical, engineering, and scientific technologies.
More than $65.6 million is being funded to five regional partners through the Entrepreneurial Services Provider (ESP) Program, which helps Ohio’s technology startup and early-stage companies get their ideas to the marketplace and achieve significant growth. In addition, 10 organizations were awarded $1.8 million in grant funding to support further validation of early-stage technologies through the Technology Validation and Start-up Fund (TVSF).
“Here in Ohio, we’re investing in opportunities that will keep us on the cutting edge of technology and innovation,” said Governor DeWine. “This funding helps ensure that Ohio will remain the most creative and entrepreneurial state in the Midwest.”

The United States Congress established the Days of Remembrance in 1978 as our nation’s annual commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust and created the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a permanent living memorial to the victims. |

 Governor Mike DeWine took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new Engineering and Advanced Technologies Center at Theodore Roosevelt High School.
As part of his continued work to promote career opportunities for Ohio students, Governor DeWine took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new Engineering and Advanced Technologies Center at Theodore Roosevelt High School.
“I congratulate everyone who has played a part in bringing this new facility to life,” said Governor DeWine. “It is another example of how we are working to improve our career technical centers across the state. We want to give our students the space, the tools, and the training they need to discover their talents and to build a future they’re excited about.”
The project was made possible by a $2.3 million grant from the Ohio Career Technical Construction Program.
With 3,500 square feet of additional space, the facility will increase student capacity and support three high-demand career tech programs: Computer-Aided Design and Engineering Technologies; Electronics, Robotics, and Programming; and an Engineering Academy.

Lt. Governor Tressel toured Stewart Glapat, a fourth-generation family-owned manufacturing business in Zanesville.
Following the tour, he led a roundtable discussion with local business and education leaders to learn about the region’s workforce strengths and its needs.

Lt. Governor Tressel and Ohio Department of Natural Resources Director Mary Mertz joined Ohio State University Athletics Director Ross Bjork and members of the Ohio State football team to celebrate their recent national championship victory with a tree planting ceremony.
During the event, players and community members came together to plant an Ohio buckeye tree at Natural Resources Park at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds.
“I am so proud of the Ohio State football team and their amazing journey to win the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff national championship earlier this year,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “Players, coaches, and the entire staff are role models to so many here in the Buckeye State, and this tree celebrates the commitment, hard work, and resiliency this group displayed on their journey to the national championship.”

Lt. Governor Tressel joined Amgen to announce a $900 million expansion of its Ohio manufacturing facility, bringing the total number of jobs to 750 and total investment in Central Ohio to more than $1.4 billion.
Last year, Amgen opened a new product assembly and packaging plant in New Albany.
