Dear Friend,

As Earth Week comes to a close, we'd like to share some of the good things happening around the state that continue to make progress in the fight against climate change.

As we shared on Tuesday, Earth Day, Governor Mills signed LD 1,
landmark legislation she introduced with bipartisan legislative leadership to improve how Maine communities, homeowners, businesses, and emergency responders can prepare for, and ultimately withstand, the effects of severe storms.

Our partners at the U.S. Climate Alliance also spotlighted Governor Mills' leadership on Tuesday, releasing a social media video campaign highlighting Maine'ssuccess in creating jobs, tackling pollution and lowering costs across Maine — one heat pump at a time.

April is a time of many youth-focused climate events, including our Youth Climate Leadership Summit in Orono and the Youth Day of Action rally in Augusta on Earth Day, which is organized annually by Maine Youth for Climate Justice.

Looking ahead to the future of Maine's energy needs, the Governor’s Energy Office welcomed the Public Utilities Commission’s Approval of Efficiency Maine Trust’s Triennial Plan for 2026-2028

The newly released plan is a roadmap for the next three years, continuing the core programs that Maine homeowners and businesses have become familiar with as a pathway to lowering their annual energy bills.

The plan is forecasted to deliver lower energy costs and electricity rate suppression for Maine people and businesses in the coming years while investing millions in energy efficiency across the state.
