Dear Friend --

Last week, the Governor announced 12 more sectors of our economy will soon be allowed to reopen. We have been carefully working on revising our health orders and reviewing hospital capacity and data.

Today Long Beach is announcing that beginning Friday, the following industries will be allowed to reopen with modifications:

  • Gyms and fitness facilities
  • Museums, galleries, and the Aquarium of the Pacific
  • Day and youth camps
  • Hotels and resorts
  • Music, film and TV production
  • Campgrounds, RV parks, and outdoor recreation

Our workers have been eager to get back to work and our community eager to go back to places we all know and love so much. Please stay connected with your favorite local businesses to see when they will reopen, as many businesses are choosing to do so at their own pace even after we give the green light and we support that.

While the state is allowing bars and family entertainment centers to reopen in some parts of the state, local heath officials do not believe Long Beach or LA County are ready to reopen those sectors. We know this is difficult but our health indicators are not there yet.

I’d like to remind everyone who is going out and engaging with friends, neighbors and the Long Beach community to please wear a face covering if you leave your home, wash your hands frequently and please stay home if you are not feeling well.

Together, we are continuing to make progress, and I thank you doing your part to keep Long Beach safe and healthy.

More information on our reopenings and specific guidance will be available in the days ahead at the longbeach.gov website.

Thank you,

Mayor Robert Garcia
