I’ll get straight to the point: Republican politicians are coming after our health care.

If you agree that health care needs to be protected, not cut, will you sign my petition now to demand the GOP keep their hands off our health care? I need 10,000 signatures on it before midnight.

Republicans are attacking our health care through their planned cuts to Medicaid – it’s outrageous, John. GOP politicians pledged not to slash the Medicaid funding that so many families depend on and that buttresses our entire health care system, but they’re cutting it anyway for the most insulting of reasons: to pay for tax cuts for the wealthiest among us.

Make no mistake about it: Medicaid cuts will harm people’s health and weaken our health care system. In North Carolina alone, our Medicaid program contributes tens of billions of dollars to the state’s economy every year. It’s crucial to the wellbeing of the state’s most vulnerable people, including children, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Medicaid doesn’t just help the beneficiaries, it helps all of us. It lowers the overall cost of health care and keeps struggling rural hospitals open.

I won’t just sit by and watch while the GOP dismantles the health care access we fought for for so long. I will fight to protect Medicaid and make sure that our government works for all of us, not just the wealthy few.

This is wrong for North Carolinians and wrong for our country. We cannot go backward.
