Resist & Rage Against Austerity

Welfare Not Warfare
Tax The Rich
Stop The Cuts

It’s become very clear that the Labour government has no plans to end the cost of living crisis, austerity, corporate profiteering, inequality or make investment in our public services and communities that would transform the lives of ordinary working-class people. Instead, we're seeing:
  •  Spiralling energy bills.
  • The retention of the of the two-child benefit cap.
  • Cuts to pensioners winter fuel payment.
  • Below inflation pay rises offered to public service workers.
  • Continuing crisis of unaffordable housing.
  • Further cuts, increased privatisation and job losses in the NHS
  • Cuts to disability and health payments.
  • No additional taxes on the rich or on unearned income.
  • Huge sums pledged for war but not welfare.
  • Scapegoating of asylum seekers & migrants.
This amounts to an outrageous attack on ordinary working-class people already under severe strain from years of vicious Tory austerity cuts.

In a rich state such as the UK, it really doesn’t have to be this way. As we saw, the post WW2 Labour government made transformative change, despite huge debts:
  • The creation of a welfare state, including our NHS
  • Millions of affordable houses being built.
  • Nationalisation of our key industries and utilities, along with decent, well paid, unionised jobs
  • Massively reduced inequality
It's crucial we respond and resist!

National Demonstration Against Austerity 2.0
Saturday 7th June, 12 noon, Portland Place to Whitehall

We urge all to support, promote and attend this really important National Demonstration and encourage you to get your organisations and trade unions to also do the same.

See
here for a model motion you can take to your trade union branch, region or national office.

London is the centre of government, power, big business, and the media in this country. So, a huge demonstration will be seen, and our voices will be heard.

There will be coaches going from various parts of the country. We will update our
website as we get details.

Please encourage your trade union or organisation to put on transport or contribute towards coach costs in your local area. This will enable as many people as possible to attend. Please email us at
[email protected] if you have organised a coach and we'll add the details to our website.

Can you help us build for the National Demonstration, including leafleting?

We need volunteers to leaflet throughout the country for the Demonstration, but especially in or around the London area. Can you help? Please email us on
[email protected]

Loss of our Facebook page

A few months ago, our admins were removed from our Facebook, and we’ve been unable to get back in. We’ve therefore been forced to set up another page called ‘No More Austerity 2.0.’ Please like and follow this new page
here and encourage others to do the same. Our other social media pages remain the same and are under our People’s Assembly name.

Additional Action to Resist Austerity 2.0

As well as being part of the National Demonstration, it’s important we campaign against austerity locally as well as nationally. This means building and supporting local and national anti-austerity coalitions of trade union and community campaigners/activists in your local area. Email us on
[email protected] for information about your local group or how to set up one.
