A weekly wrap of ADL’s reports, updates and analysis on antisemitism around the world.

On Yom HaShoah

Today is Yom HaShoah, a day to immerse ourselves in remembrance. It is a solemn day on which we commemorate the 6 million Jewish men, women and children murdered in the Holocaust. Each and every one had a name and a story. Now it is our job to ensure their stories are never forgotten.

REPORT: Antisemitism in America

On Tuesday, ADL released our latest annual

Audit of Antisemitic Incidents. The data is appalling. Incidents — harassment, vandalism and assault — soared to an average of over an incident an hour, seven days a week. 9,354 incidents in all, with incidents in every state and the District of Columbia.

So what’s next? The ADL community will continue to speak out. We will monitor and disrupt hate. We will work with law enforcement. We will press government and schools for support.

ADL hosted a briefing to dive into the Audit and the state of hate in the U.S. earlier this week with our CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, SVP for Counter-Extremism and Intelligence Oren Segal and Senior Antisemitic Incident Specialist Rachel Sass. Oren shared chilling examples of incidents, from bomb threats in synagogues to harassment in businesses and on campus. Rachel noted how in 2024, campuses became epicenters of antisemitic activity and Jonathan vowed that “we will not relent and we will not step back” in addressing the scourge of antisemitism. We hope you will

Virtual Maps Based on Real Mass Violence: Roblox is one of the most popular online gaming platforms for children and teens, drawing millions of gamers worldwide on a daily basis. ADL researchers have uncovered a disturbing subculture on Roblox that centers around mass violence. A group called Active Shooter Studios (A.S.S.) has gained notoriety for creating Roblox maps that replicate real-life mass shootings. Because such games recreate extremist-related mass shootings — such as the 2022 Buffalo attack where the killer allegedly embraced the virulently racist and antisemitic “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory — they may also serve as a gateway to extremist
content.

NEW EDITION: Tune in to Chai-er Ed: There's a fascinating new edition of ADL’s campus podcast, Chai-er Ed. This week, hear from Harrison Romero at the University of Pittsburgh. Harrison explains how discovering a robust Jewish community on campus wasn’t something he expected, but it became something he embraced. Finding community, building relationships and taking on leadership roles is what has kept him and his friends empowered and supported during dark times on campus.

MAKING PROGRESS WITH ADL

Analyzing Symbols of Hate: This month, ADL’s Law Enforcement team welcomed hundreds of law enforcement officials from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to an online event: “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Extremist Symbology and Imagery.”

Our experts walked these law-enforcement officials through the ways in which extremists use hate symbols to identify themselves and communicate their hateful messages. ADL publishes the authoritative “Hate on Display” Hate Symbols Database online, showing symbols used by these individuals and groups. The feedback from the event was outstanding, with 93% of the attendees who responded saying that they’d use ADL information in their work against extremism.

Urge Your Senators to Pass the Antisemitism Awareness Act. With campus incidents comprising 18% of all antisemitic incidents reported in 2024, according to ADL's latest audit data, we need to ensure that antisemitic harassment and discrimination on campus is addressed effectively. This ADL-supported legislation will help.

Today, on #YomHaShoah, as we reflect on the unfathomable evil of the Shoah, I find myself coming back to a quote that to me, represents the indomitable strength and resilience of the Jewish people. “We wish to extract from the horror engraved in our flesh, a positive message for our people and the world — a message of humanity, of human decency and of human dignity.” This quote is from the Survivors’ Manifesto, first read aloud by Holocaust survivor Zvi Gil z"l at @yadvashem in 2002. Zvi passed away just a few months ago, and as more survivors pass on, we must honor their legacy and carry on their message of human decency into the future. #NeverForget

In @yadvashem’s Warsaw Ghetto Square, there is an empty seat with a yellow ribbon reserved for the 59 hostages still in Gaza. On Yom HaShoah, as we vow to remember our past, we also pray for those in captivity. We fight to #BringThemHome and once again say #NeverAgain.

We send our deepest condolences to the global Catholic community on the passing of Pope Francis. His Holiness was dedicated to advancing Jewish-Catholic relations and repeatedly condemned the rise in antisemitism and extremism. May his memory be a blessing.

In a particularly shocking and public display of antisemitism, 3 large flags bearing swastikas were found hanging over the busiest highway in Sweden on Sunday, which coincides with Hitler's birthday. We urge the local authorities to find those responsible.
