Dear John,
Did you see the news? It’s not good. Economists are worried that a recession may occur in the coming months and, if it comes to pass, would we be surprised? Trump’s harmful and immoral policies are the likely culprit. I’ve worked in economic development much of my career and it’s clear that his policies are unfair and spell disaster for working people.
And what’s worse, but unsurprising, is that he’s designing policies that would punish immigrants for using certain public benefits. I spoke to community members this week who are worried about how they will make ends meet while pursuing citizenship. Knowing a recession is coming, he’s forcing them to choose between putting food on the table and becoming citizens.
I know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck. My mom relied on food stamps when she was raising my sister and me. On top of rising childcare, healthcare, and housing costs, most families are already struggling to make ends meet. We have to act before it’s too late.

Concerned community members in Brooklyn asking about Trump's policies punishing immigrants for using public benefits.
In 2020 we could vote out Trump, take back the House, and maybe even the Senate—but not unless we all fight like hell to get there. My opponent has been slow to act on every pressing issue, including most recently on gun control, but we cannot wait any longer.^1 It’s time to act.
Will you step up today and donate $5 to our bold campaign? ([link removed])
I’m ready to fight for New Yorkers and all Americans. I’ve been fighting for them my whole career.

I’d be honored to fight alongside you. We can win this, but only if we do it together.
All my best,
Lindsey
