Democrats say they’re empowering the disabled—just as they shove them out the door and turn off the lights.

Democrats Want to “Help” the Disabled—By Kicking Them Out
|
|
In yet another tone-deaf display of “progress,” Washington Democrats pushed forward a bill to shut down the Rainier School, a residential facility for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. When Republicans realized the vote was stacked, they walked out in protest—because apparently, common decency isn’t allowed in House Appropriations.
SB 5393 would close the Rainier School by 2027, while a companion House bill targets both Rainier and the Yakima Valley School. Why? Because Democrats say it’s too expensive—$775,625 per person annually—and they think they can do it cheaper elsewhere, like cramming people into already full or still-under-construction facilities like Fircrest or Lakeland Village. Who cares if those places aren’t ready or if community-based care has its own well-documented issues? Not Democrats.
Rep. Darya Farivar (D-Seattle) trotted out the usual buzzwords—“choice,” “community integration,” “improved outcomes”—all while admitting the current system is “failing pretty horrifically.” So naturally, the solution is… close more facilities and hope for the best?
Republicans, led by Rep. Travis Couture (R-Allyn), aren’t buying it. They argue these centers are vital lifelines, and dismantling them will leave vulnerable people with nowhere to go but jails, ERs, or the streets. Couture called the bill “cruel and disgusting” and vowed to “grind the brakes off this place” if it reaches the House floor.
Democrats may call it reform, but stripping care from people with profound needs in the name of budget efficiency feels more like abandonment with a side of bureaucratic spin. Read more at Washington State Standard.

Dems Pass Gun Permit Bill—Because Rights Should Come With a Fee, Apparently
|
|
Washington Democrats just pushed through House Bill 1163, their top gun control priority of the year, requiring residents to get a permit (and pay a fee) before buying a firearm. That includes passing state-approved safety training and applying through the State Patrol—unless you’re in a preferred class like law enforcement, military, or private security.
The bill passed along party lines, with every Republican voting no. Sen. Jeff Holy nailed it by comparing the bill to a “poll tax” on Second Amendment rights—because now you get to pay the state for permission to exercise a constitutional freedom.
Supporters claim it’ll keep guns out of the wrong hands. Critics say it’s yet another burden on law-abiding citizens that won’t stop criminals—who tend not to follow permit rules in the first place.
It’s now up to Gov. Bob Ferguson to sign it into law. No word yet, but considering his track record, don’t hold your breath. Read more at Axios.

Tiffany Smiley to Washington: This State’s Not Dead Yet
|
|
While Democrats keep trying to turn Washington into a West Coast version of California, former U.S. Senate candidate Tiffany Smiley isn’t throwing in the towel. She’s launched Endeavor PAC to support conservative candidates in tough territory—because apparently, someone still believes the Evergreen State can be saved from one-party rule and policy-induced decline.
Smiley’s message? Speak up, vote, and stop letting the radical fringe drive the bus off the cliff. On KTTH’s Jason Rantz Show, she called out the far-left agenda gripping Olympia, reminding listeners that most Americans—and plenty of Washingtonians—aren’t on board with open borders, unchecked crime, and economic insanity.
And yes, she’s talking to you, apathetic voters. Smiley blasted the low turnout in places like the 4th Congressional District—one of the most conservative in the West—where people still sit out elections like it doesn’t matter. Newsflash: if conservatives don’t show up, Democrats get to keep doing whatever they want with zero accountability.
Smiley also points out the obvious: Republicans can win if they focus on issues where Democrats are wildly out of step—like immigration. When your opponent insists on losing battles over 80-20 issues, maybe it’s time to stop playing defense.
So, no, Washington’s not a lost cause. It’s just going to take a lot more people like Smiley—and a lot fewer excuses. Read more at KTTH.

Washington’s Supreme Court Wants to Play Legislature—Because Who Needs Laws?
|
|
The Washington State Supreme Court is considering a rule change that would let judges dismiss criminal cases based on their personal sense of “justice”—even over prosecutors’ objections and without any law backing it. It’s a blatant end-run around the legislature, which already rejected a softer version of this power grab.
Proposed by far-left legal groups, the rule would let judges toss cases for vague reasons like “government misconduct” or “community welfare”—which now includes the defendant, of course. Prosecutors warn it will create chaos, gut public trust, and reward criminals even when no rights were violated.
This isn’t reform. It’s judicial activism on steroids—and unless voters speak up before April 30, it’s going to be rammed through behind closed doors. Read more at KTTH.
