DearJohn,
Are you a woman? Do you have a young child? Are you pregnant? Are you a member of the LGBTQ+ community? Have you faced economic barriers? Do you have a parent who is getting older? Maybe you’re a caretaker for someone who is disabled? Or maybe you’re of reproductive age or trying to build a family? Maybe you just live in a rural area?
Well if any of this, or a dozen of other categories apply, then Medicaid likely impacts you. In fact, more than two thirds of all adults in the United States have some connection to Medicaid . Well, that doesn’t seem to register for some of our leaders: anti-abortion extremists in the House and Senate are trying to cut $880 BILLION from the program - taking away your care.
Medicaid covers one in five of all Americans - that’s:
* 18 million women
* Half of all children in the United States
* 1.2 million LGBTQ adults
* One in four births
Medicaid is the largest provider of pregnancy-related services for American families. To put that in real terms, that is 700,000 kids in Alabama. It’s five million children in California and three million in Texas.
For the first time, we could see an entire foundation of health care that real people use every single day ripped away. Congress has already passed a budget framework which means they’re trying right now to make these horrific cuts.
But it’s not too late to fight back. People are speaking out and it’s working - moderate Republicans just told Speaker of the House Mike Johnson that they can’t vote for a bill that includes Medicaid cuts. Pressure is working but we have to keep it up.
Join All* Above All in calling on Congress to oppose these cuts. Click here to send a letter to your representative [[link removed]] asking them to vote NO on any budget that slashes Medicaid.

I t’s going to take all of us speaking out to save vital health care coverage for millions of women, children, and low income folks. But we can’t let this happen quietly. So please, will you join us?
We’re in an extraordinary moment, y’all, but the only way we stand up to these bullies and wanna-be dictators is to take a stand, so thank you for using your voice.
In solidarity,
Cara Schumann
